DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday (March 3) asked BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before the court on April 10 in a case filed for her derogatory remarks on numbers of liberation war martyrs.
Today (March 3) was the court appearance day for Khaleda Zia. But her lawyer advocate Sanaullah Mia filed a petition seeking time for her court appearance.
Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Zakir Hossain granted her time petition and asked her to appear before it on April 10.
On January 25, Supreme Court lawyer Momtaj Uddin Ahmad Mehedi filed the case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.
In a discussion program, held on December 21, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said that there are controversies over the accurate number of martyrs in country’s Liberation War.
There are also many books and documents on the controversies, she added.
