DHAKA: The nomination forms of the incumbent BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman have been submitted for the re-election in the same posts during upcoming party council.

On behalf of Khaleda Zia, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi submitted the nomination form at party’s central office in city’s Nayapaltan area around 11:15am on Friday.

Returning officer of the election and also BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan received the forms.

Later, on behalf of Tarique Rahman, BNP joint secretary general M Shahjahan submitted the form.

According to the nomination forms, 18 senior leaders of BNP have proposed Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman’s name as chairperson and senor vice-chairman respectively while 18 others are supporters.

Saturday is the last date for nomination form scrutiny and Sunday is the deadline for withdrawal of nomination.
  
The national council of BNP is scheduled to be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in city on March 19.
