MEHERPUR: Law enforcers detained nine activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, and seized four hand grenades from their possession at Govipur village under sadar upazila on Friday (March 4).

Confirming the matter, sadar thana officer-in-charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said police detained them while they were holding a secret meeting.

Identities of the detainees will be disclosed at a press conference at police super’s office, he added.

Meherpur police super Hamidul Alam told banglanews that police conducted the drive after being informed that the Shibir men are planning to conduct sabotage.
