DHAKA: A court in Dhaka framed charge against Bakhtiar Alam Rony in the case filed for shooting two drivers to death in city’s Eskaton area.
The court also set April 11 as the date for recording of witness deposition.
Dhaka second additional metropolitan session judge Shamsunnahar on Sunday (March 6) passed the orders.
Rony is the son of Pinu Khan MP of reserved seat for women, also general secretary of Mohila Awami League.
Earlier on February 28, the court set Sunday (March 6) for indictment order after charge hearing.
On July 21 last year, Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police Dipak Kumar Das, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.
Rony was made the only accused in the chargesheet as jeep driver and his three friends have turned approvers, or a prosecution witnesses.
An auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and a rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim were killed in a random firing from a black Land Cruiser Prado in city’s New Eskaton Road area around 1:45am on April 14.
MP Pinu Khan’s son Rony is said to have fired on them after being annoyed with “traffic jam” at midnight while he was “on drugs”.
Rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim’s mother filed the case two days after the incident with Ramna Thana.
