Gayeshwar gets bail over martyred intellectuals remark

DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has got bail over his controversial comment over the martyred intellectuals in the country’s war of independence.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Mohammad Zakir Hossain Tip granted the bail after hearing on Wednesday (March 16).

Advocate Sanaullah Mia stood for the bail plea.

Earlier, Shahbagh Thana inspector Abul Kalam Azad filed an investigation report against the BNP leader to the court.

Taking the report in cognizance, the court of Nur Mia on February 18 issued a summon order to be present before the court on March 16.

On January 21, son of a martyred freedom fighter and also Mercantile Bank assistant managing director Manindra Kumar Nath filed a case with CMM court following Gayeshwar’s derogatory remark on the country’s martyred intellectuals.
