DHAKA: The appellate division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday (March 21) postponed the bail order of BNP standing committee leader Mirza Abbas for one week overriding the order by the High Court (HC) in a plot scam case.
A five-member bench of the appellate division led by chief justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha came up with the order in the morning while holding a hearing of a plea by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC filed the lawsuit with Shahbagh Police Station in city in 2014 on charge of irregularities that he allegedly committed when he was housing and public works minister of BNP government during 2001-2006 tenure.
Senior lawyer Joynul Abedin and Nitai Roy Chowdhury moved for the BNP leader in the court while Khurshid Alam Khan moved for ACC.
