DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami has withdrawn its daylong hartal for Monday (March 28) following the High Court (HC) order of rejecting the rule that challenged Islam as the country’s state religion.
The HC order has made legality of inclusion of Islam as country’s state religion in the constitution.
The party’s acting secretary general Dr Shafiqur Rahman made the announcement of withdrawal in a statement this afternoon.
Earlier on March 27, Jamaat called to observe dawn to dusk hartal on Monday on the pretext of ‘conspiracy’ of canceling Islam as state religion from the country’s constitution.
