Fakhrul sent to jail

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday (March 30) sent BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to jail rejecting his bail plea in two sabotage cases filed with Paltan Thana in city.

Chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court judge Golam Nabi made the pronouncement in the morning when the BNP leader appeared before the court as per order of Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC).

The court, however, gave him bail in another sabotage case filed with the same thana.

Mirza Fakhrul’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mesabh confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on February 29, a five-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, ordered Mirza Fakhrul to surrender to the judicial court within 15 days.
