GAZIPUR: Two courts of Gazipur rejected bail plea of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor and also BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser MA Mannan in two cases on Tuesday morning (April 19).

Gazipur court inspector Robiul Islam told banglanews that the courts of senior judicial magistrate M Abdul Hye and Judge Mahbuba Akhter pronounced the orders.

On April 15, Kaliakoir thana sub-inspector (SI) M Monirul Islam filed a lawsuit under special power act against 39, mentioning names of 27, including mayor Mannan on charge of hurling petrol bombs and cocktails aiming a police van in front of Kaliakoir Ansar academy.

Another case was field by SI Moniruzzaman against 45-50, mentioning names of 30, including mayor Mannan, on charge of setting fire to a bus and vandalizing vehicles in front of T&T Alif Community Center on that day.

Currently, mayor Mannan is behind bars at Kashimpur central jail-1.
