DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Saturday (April 23) said the third phase of Union Parishads (UP) elections was held peacefully than the earlier phases.

The CEC was addressing a press conference at election commission (EC) media center after the completion of voting in the afternoon.

There were several incidents of violence but it was much less than earlier times.

The voter turn-out, including of women, was also huge, he added.

Election commissioner Shah Newaz and Abu Hafiz, EC secretary Sirajul Islam and public relations director SM Asaduzzaman were, among others, present here.
