DHAKA: A 24-hour hartal, enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the Supreme Court Verdict that upheld death penalty to their party leader Motiur Rahman Nizami, is underway across the country on Sunday (May 8).
In a joint statement, Jamaat-e-Islami acting Ameer Mokbul Ahmad and acting secretary general Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the 24 hours hartal on May 5.
Supreme Court upheld its verdict on convicted war criminal Nizami, rejecting his plea for reviewing death penalty on Thursday (May 5).
