6 hurt in BNP man’s firing

MOULVIBAZAR: At least six people sustained bullet injuries as Bangladesh National Party (BNP) leader opened gun fire at Rajnagar of the district on Tuesday (May 10).

The injured were identified as Atikur Rahman, 40, Sohel Mia, 35, Juwel Mia, 33, Ziaur Rahman, 34, Belal Ahmad, 33 and Nazel Mia, 29.

Witnesses said that local union BNP general secretary Hakim Sundar Baksh locked into an altercation with Anam Ahmad, member of Ward-5 of Sadar Upazila. At one stage, angry Hakim opened fire by his licensed gun, leaving six injured.

The victims were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

Rajnagar Thana Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajib Ahmad informed banglanews that nobody has been detained yet over the incident.
