DHAKA: The nationwide 24-hour hartal, enforced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the execution of party’s Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami for his crimes against humanity and war crimes, has begun from Thursday morning (May 12).

The general strike has begun from 5:00am and will continue till 5:00am Friday (May 13).

Meanwhile, no untoward situation has so far been reported in city or any part of the country.

Earlier, at the wee hours on Wednesday (May 11), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami called the general strike through a press release.
