JESSORE: An Awami League (AL) activist was beaten to death during Union Parishad (UP) polls campaign in Keshabpur upazila of the district on Sunday (May 22) night.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Mondo, 22, son of Gopal Mondol of Mirzapur village.

AL-backed candidate Golam Sarwar told banglanews that supporters of BNP-backed candidate Abu Bakar beaten Sumon to death when he was returning from campaign.

Keshabpur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
