Aslam, Asad sent to jail after remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday (May 24) sent BNP joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury and his personal assistant Asaduzzaman Mia to jail after their seven-day remand on allegation of meeting with Israeli spy agency Mossad to conspire against the government.

Judge Abdullah Al Masud of chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka pronounced the order.

Meanwhile, the courts of Judge Maruf Hossain and Judge Abdullah Al Masud fixed May 30 as the date of hearing when police produced Aslam Chowdhury before the courts with 10-day remand plea each in two cases filed against him with Motijheel and Lalbagh police stations in city.

The courts fixed the date ordering police to show Aslam Chowdhury arrest in the two cases.

On May 15, police arrested the newly appointed BNP joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury from capital’s Khilkhet area over his meeting with an Israeli agent.
