DHAKA: The remand hearing of BNP joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury has been shifted to May 31 and June 6 in a sedition case and in two violence cases respectively.
The court of metropolitan magistrates Maruf Hossain, Golam Nabi and Mazharul Islam on Monday (May 30) shifted the dates.
Earlier on May 24, the courts fixed May 30 as the date of hearing in three cases. But, defence lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia plead for extension of time as the High Court (HC) adjourned a hearing on remand hearing under section 54 of CrPC.
Later, the judges rescheduled the dates of hearing of the BNP leader.
The hearing in sedition case, filed with Gulshan Police Station in city, will be held on Tuesday (May 31).
On May 15, police arrested the newly appointed BNP joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury and his personal assistant M Asaduzzaman Mia from capital’s Khilkhet area over his meeting with an Israeli espionage agent with the view to overthrow the elected government.
Later, he was shown arrested in two sabotage cases. The sedition case was filed afterwards.
