3 BNP chairman runners boycott UP polls

JHENAIDAH: Three BNP-selected chairman candidates on Saturday (June 4) boycotted ongoing 6th phase of union parishad polls on allegation of casting fake votes, rampant irregularities and barring supporters to come at polling centers.

The three candidates made the announcement of boycotting polls at Kabirpur Government Primary School ground around 11:00am.

The candidates are Abdul Bari Molla from Dhalhara Chandra union, Nazrul Islam from Hakimpur union and Abul Hossain Biswas from Manoharpur union parishad.

However, the sixth and final phase of Union Parishad (UP) voting is underway in 698 UPs across the country on Saturday.

The voting set in motion at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm uninterruptedly.
