282 held in anti-militant operation in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Police has detained a total of 282 including eight Jamat-Shibir activists conducting a special drive on fifth day of anti-militant operation. 

The drive was conducted from Tuesday morning (June 14) to Wednesday morning (June 15). Locally-made pistol and four rounds cartridges were seized during the drive. 

Chittagong Additional Police Superintendent (ASP special branch) Rezaul Masud informed banglanews that 200 people were held during overnight raid from the port city and 16 Thanas of the district.

163 among the detainees are warranted convicts and 16 were regular in cases, eight were Jamaat-Shibir activists, five were charged in police law and rest five were charged with other cases, ASP added.

According to a statement of metropolitan police PR Office, 82 were arrested in the last 24 hours and 43 among them were held in special raid.
