DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) on Monday announced that the elections in eight municipalities will be held on August 7.

The municipalities are Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat, Nilphamary’s Domar, Rangpur’s Pirganj, Patuakhali’s Golachipa, Norail’s Lohagara, Tangail’s Ghatail, Bogra’s Sonatala and Pabna’s Bera.

Moreover, the by-election of Manikganj’s Singail municipality in Ward no 1 member post will be held on August 7.

The last date of nomination submission is July 12 and withdrawal is August 2.

EC deputy secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan instructed the election officials to take necessary preparations regarding the polls.

EC assistant secretary Rajib Ahsan told banglanews that the municipality election for mayor position will be held in Kishoreganj’s Kuliar Char and Shariatpur’s Naria on August 4.
