JHENAIDAH: Police detained a Shibir cadre along with arms, ammunitions and books at Kotchandpur upazila of the district on Monday (July 11).

The detainee, identified as Akram Hossain (25), was caught from Dayarampur Kamil Madrasa.

Police said that some 10 people had held a meeting on the madrasa premises for creating sabotage. After being informed police conducted a drive and held Akram while others managed to flee the scene.

A shutter gun, 10 rounds bullets, three machetes, a Chinese axe, lethal weapon, sharp knife and few books were seized from the spot.

Kotchandpur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ahmmed Kabir Hasan Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews saying that Akram will be sent to the jail after initial investigation.
