DHAKA: Leaders and activists of ruling 14-party alliance on Monday (July 11) vowed to keep the country free from militancy.
Several hundreds of people made the vow after attending an anti-militancy rally called by Awami League (AL)-led alliance on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar in city.
The rally was called on the backdrop of the attacks in city’s Gulshan and Kishoreganj’s Sholakia areas.
The leaders and activists of AL and its front organizations including Chhatra League and Jubo League and alliance members gathered in the area around 3:15pm Monday (July 11).
A good number of law enforcers have been deployed in the road in front of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), TSC, Chankhar Pool and High Court areas to avert any unwanted situation.
They are also searching all the participants of the rally to secure the area.
The participants are chanting the slogan “We want a militancy-free Bangladesh”.
