CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Police detained 21 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from sadar upazila of the district.

The arrest drive was conducted on early Tuesday.

Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mazharul Islam told banglanews that the group of Jamaat-Shibir activists were conducting a secrete meeting at a night school in Mandalpara of the upazila.

On tip-off, police conducted the drive and nabbed 21 activists of Jamaat-Shibir.

The law enforcers also seized 30 pieces of cocktails, 500-g gunpowder and some pieces of jihadist books.
