LAKSHMIPUR: Police detained eight female activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from Charfalkan union under Kamalnagar of the district on Thursday (Aug 4).

Kamalnagar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Kabir Ahammed told banglanews that the law enforcers conduct the drive in the area being tipped off about the secret meeting to create subversive activities and detained the female activists.

Denying the allegation, the relatives of detainees claimed that the women gathered to teach others the Quran and prayers.

However, the OC said that legal actions will be taken against them.
