RAJSHAHI: Two Jamaat-e-Islami men among 53 people were arrested from different areas of the district in separate drives from Friday night (August 5) to Saturday morning (August 6).

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) spokesperson and Rajpara Zone senior assistant police commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Jamaat activist Omar Farukh, 30, of Hazrapukur area and Shibir activist Imam Hossain, 27, of Shampur Mollapara area under Matihar Thana are among the arrestees.

However, the law enforcers arrested 24 persons from Boalia Thana, 13 from Rajpara Thana, 10 from Matihar Thana and four from Shah Makhdum Thana.

The arrestees were sent to jail through court at noon, added senior assistant police commissioner.
