NETROKONA: Miscreants chopped dead a local leader of Jubo League, a front organization of ruling Awami League, at Purbadhala upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman Tula, 32, joint-convener of upazila Jubo League, and hailed from Jamirakanda village of the upazila.

Quoting local people, additional superintendent of police (sadar circle) Khan Mohammad Abu Naser told banglanews that miscreants chopped the victim while he was returning home at night, leaving him injured critically.

Later, he was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Abu Naser added.

Police detained three suspects in this regard, he added.

Meanwhile, local sources said police are trying to detain AL leader Bulbul Mir, who was allegedly involved with the murder.
