RANGPUR: Police have arrested a leader of Islami Chatra Shibir, the student of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from Mithapukur upazila of the district Monday morning (September 19).

The arrestee Younus Ali (25), president of Shibir’s Mithapukur upazila unit, was a charge-sheeted accused.

Mithapukur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Humayun Kabir told Banglanews that he was a fugitive for a long. Acting on tip-off, he was arrested from his residence.

The Shibir leader, who was accused in separate violence and arson attack cases, has been sent to jail, he added.
