JESSORE: Miscreants shot a Godkhali Union Parishad (UP) member to death in Jhikargacha upazila of the district on Thursday morning (October 13).

The deceased was identified as Rahajjan Sardar, 40, a local leader of ruling Awami League, hailed from Mathbari-Gadkhali village of the upazila.

Witnesses told Banglanews that two persons, who came by a motorbike wearing helmets, shot two rounds aiming at Rahajjan in Gadkhali Bazar area around 9:30am and fled the scene, leaving him injured critically.

Local people rushed him to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where emergency department physician Abdullah-al-Mamun declared Rahajjan dead on arrival.

Earlier on July 5, a few miscreants shot to death Hasan Sardar, elder brother of Rahajjan, at his house.
