RANGAMATI: A 48-hour hartal, enforced by five Bangali organizations, is underway in three Chittagong Hill Tracts districts on Thursday (October 13).

They have called the strike protesting the parliament approval to Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Land Dispute Resolution Commission (amended) Act 2016 and demanding the release of Bangali leader Atikur Rahman.

The organizations included Parbatya Nagrik Parishad, Parbatya Gana Parishad, Parbatya Sama-Adhikar Andalan, Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad and Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Oikko Parishad.

The general strike began at 6:00am on the day in Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari hill districts.

Picketers were seen in important points of the districts to impose the strike.

Moreover, shops were seen closed due to the hartal.
