Khaleda eyes deeper ties on Jinping visit

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday (October 14) greeted the visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping and expected the bilateral relation between Bangladesh and China will be deeper through the visit.

She further said: “People of Bangladesh have always believed that the bilateral relationship between the two countries is deeper historically and it will increase through this visit.”

The BNP chief made the remark in a statement, adding that former President Ziaur Rahman build up Bangladesh’s diplomatic relation with China in 1977 for county’s economic development.

China always accompanied Bangladesh thenceforth, she added.

Earlier in the day, China President Xi Jinping arrived in Bangladesh on a two-day state visit.

A VVIP flight from Cambodia carrying the President landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport where Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid welcomed his China counterpart.
