KHULNA: Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leader Asadul Islam alias Arif is set to be hanged around 10:30pm Sunday (October 16) for Jhalkathi judges murder.

Khulna Deputy Magistrate M Nur-e-Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Saturday morning (October 15).

He said Asadul, who is in Khulna jail from 2008, will be hanged there. The authorities are prepared for the episode.

Sources said Asadul and six other persons were convicted on May 29, 2006 for killing Jhalkathi district senior assistant judges Sohel Ahmed and Jagannath Pandey hurling bombs in their vehicles on November 14, 2005.

Six other persons were hanged in different times.

Moreover, security measures have been enhanced in the jail and adjacent areas for the event.
