RAJSHAHI: At least 40 people including a metropolitan unit Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Ataur Rahman were detained in overnight drives from several places of the district on Monday (October 17).

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) spokesperson senior assistant commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam (Traffic Branch) said that 10 people were detained from Boalkhali Thana, 15 from Rajpara Thana, seven from Motihar Thana and four from Shah Makhdum Thana.

Moreover, DB police arrested four accused from other areas.

Among the detainees, 20 are facing warrants, four are drug peddlers and 15 others are accused in several cases, senior assistant commissioner said.

Police also seized a huge amount of narcotics during the drives.

However, the detainees were sent to court in the afternoon.
