DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) has sent an invitation letter to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its general secretary Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir to join their 20th national council.

A five-member team, led by AL deputy office secretary Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, handed over the letter to Mirza Fakrul at BNP’s central office in city’s Naya Paltan area on Thursday (October 20).

Mirza Fakrul welcomed them cordially and exchanged greetings with the AL leaders here.

Mrinal told the journalist that they have invited the BNP chairperson and general secretary and expected that they will attend the council.

He further said they have invited all the political parities of the country except Jamaat-e-Islami in the council.
