DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) chairman candidates won in 47 Union Parishads (UPs) polls held on October 31 in different parts of the country, including the ex-enclaves.
On the other hand, BNP chairman candidates won in six, JP in two and Independent candidates in 15 UPs.
Election Commission (EC) public relations officer (PRO) Mohammad Ashadul Haque told Banglanews that the elections were held in 400 UPs, of them, polls for chairman post were held in 170 UPs and the rest for other posts.
Of 170 UPs, the EC has got results of 70 UPs on Tuesday (November 1), he added.
According to the commission official, about 78 percent voters exercised their voting rights in the election.
