DHAKA: A court on Tuesday (November 8) asked the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before the court on December 1 in a sedition case.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Karrul Hossain Molla passed the order.
Supreme Court (SC) Bar Association former secretary and also AL working committee former member Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi filed the case.
Earlier on December 21, 2015, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at a rally of freedom fighters commented that there is a controversy regarding the number of martyrs of country’s war of independence.
On December 23, Momtaj Uddin Ahmed sent a legal notice to withdraw her comment mentioning her mentality of ‘sedition’.
The lawyer later sought home ministry’s approval as he did not get any reply of the notice.
Khaleda’s lawyer and also Supreme Court Bar Association president Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain opined that there is nothing of sedition in BNP chief’s speech regarding the accurate number of martyrs.
