DHAKA: Supreme Court appellate division has upheld the High Court order that granted six months interim bail to Cox’s Bazar-4 MP Abdur Rahman Bodi in a case over hiding wealth information.
The Chamber Justice Sayed Mahmud Hossain passed a ‘no order’ on Sunday (November 20) in response to the appeal of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking a stay against the HC order.
The High Court (HC) on Wednesday (November 16) granted six months’ interim bail to MP Bodi in the graft case.
The court also fined the convict Tk 10-lakh, in default, he have to serve three more months to jail.
Earlier on August 21 of 2014, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Abdus Sobhan filed the lawsuit with Ramna police station in Dhaka.
According to the case statement, Bodi submitted false statement to the election commission (EC) about his wealth before the general elections in 2008 and 2013.
He had hidden information about the wealth of Tk 10.87 crore.
