BNP not to participate polls under PM

DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia on Thursday categorically said they would not take part in the next general election under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He came up with the assertion while addressing a discussion meeting on ‘Ongoing Political Situation and What to Do’ at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium in the city.

The senior leader of the party also said: “No fair election under this Election Commission is possible as they are working for a specific political party.”

Rafiqul Islam alleged that Prime Minister is taking the country towards anarchy.

With Jatiyatabadi Ganatantrik Dal President Shafiul Alam in the chair, general secretary of the party Khandaker Lutfar Rahman, secretary general of National Peoples Party (NPP) Fariduzzaman Farhat, Islamic Party Chairman Advocate Abdul Mubin, NDC secretary general Golam Mortuza also spoke.
