NOAKHALI: Police arrested an upazila unit president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, from Bhimpur area under Chatkhil upazila in Noakhali district Wednesday night.

The arrestee was identified as Zahid Iqbal Nahid, 25, president of Chatkhil upazila unit Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Chatkhil police station Inspector (investigation) Abul Khair told Banglanews that being tipped-off police raided Bhimpur area and arrested Nahid around 10:00 pm.

He is an accused in several sabotage cases, he added.
