‘Movement if dialogue over EC reform fails’

DHAKA: BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said there will be no option left for the people but to move in action, if dialogue with the President over Election Commission (EC) reformation fails.

He made the remark while speaking as chief guest in a meeting at the VIP lounge of National Press Club on Friday (January 20) organized by Shadhinota Forum marking the 81st birth anniversary of late President Ziaur Rahman.

Moudud Ahmed hoped that the President’s initiative on EC formation will be successful and urged his further interference on planning a free, fair and neutral election.

“With the continuation of dialogue, the President will hopefully create a cooperative government structure so that people can safely go to the poll centers. But if the dialogue fails then the only alternative will be left is organizing a movement. We rather want dialogue instead choosing the alternative.”

BNP chairperson’s advisor advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, executive committee members Khaleda Yasmin and Asadul Haque Shahin also spoke at the meeting chaired by Shadhinota Forum chairman Abu Naser Rahmatullah.
