Mufti Wakkas on 15-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday placed Mufti Muhammad Wakkas, Jomiatey Islam and Islami Law Implementation Committee Secretary General, on a 15-day remand for police interrogation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate S M Ashiqur Rahman passed the order and denied the bail plea for Mufti Wakkas.

On September 3, the Detective Branch of Police (DB) produced him before the CMM court with 50-day remand plea in five different cases, including police Sub-Inspector Shahjahan murder case.

On September 2, Detective Branch of Police held the former minister for religion Mufti Muhammad Wakkas for his alleged involvement in Hefajat-e-Islam rampage on May 5 at Shapla Chattar in city’s Motijheel business hub.
