COX’S BAZAR: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia reached Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar to visit Rohingya refugees who entered Bangladesh fleeing widespread violence in Rakhine state of Myanmar.

The motorcade of the BNP chief reached the Rohingya camps at the upazila after 1:00 pm on Monday (October 30).

After reaching there, Khaleda Zia distributed relief materials among the Rohingya refugees.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party’s standing committee members Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Abdullah-al-Noman, Cox’s Bazar district BNP president Shahjahan Chowdhury and other leaders of the party are accompanying the BNP chief.  

After distributing relief materials among the Rohingya refugees and inspecting their situation, Khaleda Zia will return to Chittagong in the evening.

Earlier in the morning, she left Cox’s Bazar district town for refugee camps in Ukhia upazila.

Thousands of her party’s supporters and activists stood on both sides of the road to accord warm reception to the BNP chief.

Earlier on Sunday evening (October 29), Khaleda Zia reached Cox’s Bazar from Chittagong. She stayed overnight in Cox's Bazar Circuit House.

Party leaders and activists accorded receptions at different points between Chittagong and Cox's Bazar.

Wrapping up her four-day tour, Khaleda Zia will return to Dhaka on Tuesday (October 31).

Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar on Saturday (October 28). Many leaders and activists of the party joined with Khaleda Zia’s motorcade from Nayapaltan central office, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Feni, Laxmipur, Cox’s Bazar and several other places on her way.

On the way, her motorcade came under attack in Feni on Saturday (October 28). BNP and Awami League blamed each other for the attack.

Khaleda Zia stayed overnight of Sunday in Chittagong Circuit House. BNP leaders and activists staged a huge showdown in the port city on the occasion of Khaleda Zia’s arrival.
