Jamaat won’t join polls under partisan govt

DHAKA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami told European Union (EU) that the party would not join the upcoming election without poll-time non-party government.

Jamaat assistant secretary general Barrister Abdur Razzak came up with the assertion while talking to journalists after meeting with EU delegation at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday night.

He said, “We cleared our stance to the EU that Jamaat would not join the upcoming election without fully impartial government.”

Barrister Razzak said that only government can solve the ongoing crisis that has created centering the election.

Meanwhile, Barrister Arman Ali, son of Jamaat leader Mir Kashem Ali, was present in the meeting.

EU Ambassador to Bangladesh William Hanna led the six-member delegation.

Earlier, the team had meetings with election commission, ruling Awami league and main opposition BNP.
