BAGHERHAT: Law enforcers arrested 40 Jamaat-Shibir men including Sharankhola upazila Jamaat president and district Shibir secretary, from a secret meeting in Sharankhola upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

Three of the detainees are district secretary of Chhatra Shibir M Shamim Ahsan, 26, president of Sharankhola upazila Belal, Sharankhola Thana secretary Sarwar Hossain Badal.

Officer-in-Charge of Sharankhola Thana M humayun Kabir told banglanews, “During a secret meeting at the residence of Upazila Jamaat Amir Maulana Kabir, police arrested them in a drive.”

We are checking whether there are any cases against them or not, he added.
