DHAKA: Speakers at meeting urged the countrymen to elect honest and qualified candidate in upcoming parliament elections and play a vital role to uphold country’s democracy.
The speakers came up with the plea while addressing the view-exchange meeting on ‘Citizen Thought in Resolving National Crisis’ organized by Bangladesh Jatiya Party at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Addressing the view exchange meeting, Dr Kamal Hossain said, “People should elect honest and qualified aspirants not on the basis of party and symbol.”
He also asserted that upcoming parliament polls must be held under the non-partisan caretaker government instead of any political government as election engineering and media coup was common scenario in the past.
Chief Adviser of Bangladesh Jatiya Party Dr MA Mukit presided over the meeting.
Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddiki and opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farooque also spoke.
