FROM KHULNA: Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday categorically said the government would be allowed to set up power plant destroying Sundarbans at Rampal in the district.

“We will not allow the government to set power at Rampal destroying Sundarbans,” she said.

The BNP chief came up with the forewarning while addressing a grand rally of 18-party alliance at Khulna Circuit House ground in the afternoon.
 
Khaleda, also Leader of the Opposition, said, “The incumbent government has made quick money and laundered money quickly in the name of quick rental power plant.”

Indicating the government, she said, “Set up power plant any where else, not at Rampal, as it would destroy lives, trees and beauty of Sundarbans.”

Regarding caretaker government, she told her audience that the then opposition Awami League demanded the system. “Now they have cancelled the provision for snatching voting rights the people,” she said.

She added: “No election will be allowed to be held under Awami League government rather we will prevent any election under the incumbent government.”

Mentioning different activities of the government, she claimed that none would be secured under Awami League-led government.

“The hands of the government are colored with blood and there is murder daily,” she added alleging that the government had abducted BNP leader and former lawmaker Ilias Ali.

She also pledged before the people of Khulna to build two bridges over Padma River if her party assumes power in the next.

Regarding the anti-government movement, she told the rally that October 25 would the last day of the government. “The government should quit with honor by this time,” she said adding “We will announce stern movement programme after October 25.”
