DHAKA: Opposition BNP staged countrywide protest rallies Sunday against recent ban on gatherings in the capital and torture on its leaders-activists.

The rallies staged in many districts, upazilas and thanas including Ashulia, Bagerhat, Gangni (Meherpur), Rajshahi, Khagrachari, Magura, Nilphamari, Shariatpur and Maulvibazar.

The local leaders and activists spontaneously came out with the procession protesting the ban of demo on Sunday.

There was no unpleasant situation during their protest while the law enforcers were in alert position.
