Sajeeb Wazed Joy's 51st birthday today

Today is the 51st birthday of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her information and communication technology (ICT) affairs adviser.

He was born to nuclear scientist MA Wazed Miah and Bangabandhu’s eldest daughter Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka amid the Liberation War on Jul 27, 1971.

Sajeeb Wazed, a computer engineer, has transformed the country into technology-driven economy by making the best use of his academic knowledge. He is the architect of Digital Bangladesh. 

He is working to drive Bangladesh country towards the fourth industrial revolution by supporting all government efforts in digitization of the country.

Sajeeb was listed by the World Economic Forum as one of its Young Global Leaders in 2007.

Marking his birthday, Awami Jubo League arranged a milad and doa mahfil at Bangabandhu Avenue here on Tuesday.

Besides, milad and doa mahfil and tree plantation programme are being observed at district, city, upazila, thana, municipality and union levels with maintaining health guidelines.

In the afternoon, Awami Swechchhasebak League will cut a cake and arrange prayers seeking sound health and long life of Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy has been contributing to the government’s efforts to improve all indicators of technological advancement, including mobile phone users, internet users, accessing public services digitally, mobile banking, and earnings from tech sector exports.

Joy studied at Saint Joseph’s College, India and enrolled in computer science at the University of Bangalore and later transferred to The University of Texas at Arlington, USA and received bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He completed post-graduation in public administration from Harvard University.

On February 25 in 2009, Sajeeb Wazed officially joined the Awami League as a primary member of the Rangpur district unit of the party within days, and as an IT policy analyst, unveiled the concept paper and action plan for the government's ambitious "Digital Bangladesh" campaign.
