BNP leader and former mayor of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) Ahsan Habib Kamal passed away at his residence in the capital on Sunday (July 30) night. He was 67.

Earlier on Saturday night, Kamal felt sick at his house. Later, his family members rushed him to the United Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Kamal, the fisheries affairs secretary of the BNP central committee and the president of Barishal district unit (south) of the party, left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Ahsan Habib Kamal was elected the BCC mayor in 2013.
