Shakib Al Hasan became only the second Bangladeshi batter to reach the milestone of 7000 runs in T20 cricket during his 16 ball-27 runs knock against Chattogram Challengers in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match held today (February 10) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The Rangpur Riders player Shakib, who was eight runs short for his 7000 runs before the match, achieved the feat, pushing a delivery off bowler Shykat Ali toward mid-wicket. Tamim Iqbal who has now 7386 runs in 255 matches, was the first batter from Bangladesh to achieve the milestone.
Shakib entered the club in 387 innings of 422 matches. He also had 476 wickets in T20 wicket.
Chris Gayle is still the leading run-getter in T20 cricket with 14,562 runs.
Among the Bangladeshi batters, Mushfiqur Rahim is in third place with 5619 runs in 246 innings and Mahmudullah is behind him with 5576 runs in 280 innings.
Shakib is the highest scorer for Bangladesh in T20 Internationals with 2382 runs in 116 innings at an average of 23.82 with 12 fifties and a best score of 84.
