Title holders Bashundhara Kings will host giant killer Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society in their first-leg match of the ongoing ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023-24 today (February 16) at their den Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital at 5:15 pm (BST).
Ahead of this match, the club authority decided to wear kits inscribed with Bangla font to pay tribute to the martyrs of 21st February, the day which is now observed worldwide as International Mother Language Day.
The BPL round seven will roll on this day with a match between Police Football Club and Fortis FC at the Muktijuddho Sriti Stadium in Rajshahi at 3 pm (BST).
On the very next day on Saturday, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd will host Brothers Union Ltd at the Kings Arena.
Abahani Ltd Dhaka will lock horns with Chittagong Abahoni Ltd at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd will face Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
All matches will kick off at 3 pm (BST).
In the current point table of ongoing 10-team BPL, Kings are at top with 18 points, Mohammedan second with 15 points, Dhaka Abahani third with 13 points while Sheikh Jamal and Ctg Abahoni sharing the fourth spot with 9 points each.
Rahamatganj and Police are sharing sixth spot with 7 points each while Sheikh Russel and Fortis are sharing eighth position with 6 points each. Brothers at bottom tenth with 3 points only.
