A murder case has been filed against cricketer and former Member of Parliament Shakib Al Hasan in connection with the death of Rubel, a garment worker.
The case was lodged by Rafiqul Islam, the father of the deceased, at Adabar Police Station in the capital.
Inspector Nazrul Islam of Adabar Police Station confirmed the registration of the case on Thursday.
The case has named 156 individuals, including prominent political figures such as former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, as accused. Additionally, another 400 to 500 unidentified persons have been implicated in the case. Shakib Al Hasan is listed as the 28th accused in the complaint.
According to the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that on 5 August, Rubel participated in a protest rally at Ring Road in the Adabar area. During the protest, Rubel sustained bullet wounds to his chest and stomach and succumbed to his injuries on 7 August while receiving treatment in the hospital.
